Arelli Alloy Wheels, Inc. Arelli Alloy Wheel, Inc. designs, engineers, and sells custom wheels for the automotive market. Arelli does not directly manufacture these wheels but has them produced through overseas and local foundries. Sales are made through local distributors and also through a marketing relationship with one of the manufacturing foundries. Arelli is known for its unique designs and sells to the high-end customer under three product lines which are targeted to distinct markets. Working capital was needed to grow the businsess and allow the Company to provide the product on a timely basis which is crucial in the seasonal custom wheel business. Wendell Wade Williams, Inc. Wendell Wade Williams, Inc. designs fine clothing for men. The Company uses the best fabrics and pays rigorous attention to fit and detail. After producing the samples in-house, the Company relies on outside manufacturers to manufacture its product. The Company's primary offering is a very high-end custom suit line but they also offer more casual clothing choices. Renaissance Capital Advisors provided the necessary start-up capital for Wendell Wade Williams, Inc. Global Translogic, Inc. Global Translogic, Inc. provides local on-demand and route courier service, is a DHL Worldwide Express service reseller, and provides global transportation services through a sales agreement with Excel Transportation Services which is a multi-billion dollar logistics provider. Prior to our involvement, the company became a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). The Company was seeking the working capital to expand its business. Global Translogic's owner has several key contacts in the African American community and was looking to capitalize on these contacts to generate sales within the minority business community. Global Cardio Care, Inc. Global Cardio Care, Inc. is a medical treatment provider. The Company works primarily with cardiac patients by administering EECP (Enhanced External Counterpulsation) treatments. EECP treatments are a non-invasive outpatient procedure designed to treat angina, chest pain, and shortness of breath. Global Cardio Care was a start-up company offering a relatively new medical treatment. The Company had just opened its first clinic prior to our involvement and needed the working capital to sustain and grow the business. The primary owner had several years experience with a competitor and a good vision for what changes needed to be made to that existing business model. In addition, she already had several important contacts in the local medical community. Karl and Kai Kani, Inc. Karl and Kai Kani, Inc. was founded to develop the Life by Karl Kani "urban-wear" clothing line. The Company designs and markets this clothing line with revenue being generated through royalty arrangements; the Company does not perform any manufacturing functions. While Karl and Kai Kani, Inc. was a start-up company, the owner was a pioneer in the "urban-wear" clothing industry and had previously owned a very successful clothing line. We viewed our investment in the new Life by Karl Kani clothing line as an opportunity to provide the Company with the necessary working capital to bridge the gap until the fashion brand becomes established. Chemrich Holdings, Inc. Chemrich Holdings, Inc. is a medication compounding and packaging facility licensed by the FDA and State of California to manufacture both prescription and non-prescription pharmaceuticals. The Company manufactures generic over-the-counter medications and revenue consists of sales through major distributors of private-label brands. While there was already venture capital funding in place, we viewed our investment as an opportunity to provide the company with the necessary working capital and management support to return to, and exceed, the operating results reached in prior years. In addition, during the process of making our investment, we re-negotiated the terms on several of the existing debt instruments in addition to changing the Company's equity structure. |
